About Me

My name is Emily and I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in 1994 when I was only five years old. Since my diagnoses, I have traveled around the United States with my family. My travelling increased as I grew up and became more independent. I have travelled around the world for pleasure and for work, domestically and internationally.
If you count being on a ship in Antarctic waters for a month, being so close to land you could see people walking around, I have been to all seven continents! I love traveling and going on adventures, with friends or solo. I don’t plan on stopping anytime soon and hope to continue traveling for many more decades.
When I am not traveling I enjoy reading books, especially fantasy and sci-fi books. I am always reading at least one physical book and listening to an audiobook at any given time. I like to do a variety of arts and crafts, from coloring to pottery. I also play a lot of games, particularly Dungeons & Dragons. I have played many games as the Game Master (GM) and many games as a player. I enjoy going on all kinds of adventures, both in real life and with my imagination.
I studied and currently work in marine biology. My jobs have had split time in the office, in the laboratory, and in the field. I have worked on large ships and small boats, sometimes for a few hours, and other times living aboard for a month at a time. My love of traveling and going on adventures has made working on ships and in the field a part of my job that I enjoy.
